The government of the Netherlands has invested in a new cruise fleet, “Life Heritage Resort Ha Long”, aiming to create stable jobs in the Vietnamese tourism.

With 22 boats, the fleet is designed to bring a special experience at sea for travelers.

The fleet, with four-star yachts, unveiled on November 4th, 2011, was a joint-venture of Life Resorts Vietnam Corporation and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a Private Sector Investment program (PSI), which financially assists break-through investment projects in emerging markets.

Saskia Jongma, members of the Dutch Agency for International Business and Cooperation, said that the cooperative investment with Life Ha Long Heritage Resort aims to create a positive impact on the sustainable economic development through job opportunities and training programs to bring higher incomes for local people.

This is the first large joint-project of the PSI program in Vietnam to assist the country in tourism and service industries.

After more than six months’ actively training staff, the fleet has carried their first tourists to discover the unique beauty of Ha Long Bay by night in October, 2011.

Ha Long Bay of Vietnam has become one of the New 7 Wonders of the World under the preliminary voting results.

Vietnam is said to have poured big investments into campaigns to vote for Ha Long Bay in the context thousands of local people are in miserable situation.

Experts have raised their concerns over whether the title “natural wonder of the world” can bring more fruitful results for the local tourism industry whose tourism products, services, infrastructure remain unsolved problems.
